ever since i heard Mike Glaser talk about why making objects that people covet is necessary for design, I have been hooked onto it.However , i have never been successful articulating the reasons behind people coveting soemthing.

so now i want to make a list of things, of characteristics, of qualities in an object that makes people covet it.

what makes you covet something?

#1  beauty that is a result of use.

i love my grandpa’s books because they signify his ambition, his determination to overcome obstacles in his life thru education.I relate to that determination.The wear  of the covers, folded corners of the pages, their smell, his scribbly last minute footnotes ,symbolise that.They smbolise the values that he taught me, which are at the core of our relationship. I live in this feeling and therefore i covet.
